About Us

Canto LLC has been providing a wide range of speech and language therapy services to individuals and families with a wide range of communication problems since the 1980's.

In 2008 Canto Speech Therapy went "online", being one of the first providers of tele-speech therapy worldwide.

Our goal is to provide high quality speech and language therapy services. We want all our clients, children and adults, to achieve their full potential in all the areas of communication.

Improve speech, language and memory skills at Canto Speech Therapy Online

Whether you are in the Alexandria, VA area near Washington, DC, or any other place else in the world - in a rural community in North America, a large American city, or overseas - know that you can easily get the help you need for your child!

All our speech language pathologists (SLPs) hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). This guarantees that an SLP holds a postgraduate degree - at least an MSc or MA - and postgraduate professional clinical experience as specified by ASHA.

Canto's SLPs are experienced with both the traditional face-to-face ‘table-top’ therapy model as well as the online tele-speech therapy model.  And our clinicians enjoy what they do!  They care about children and families, they are dedicated to the children and families they work with, and of course, they really enjoy what they do!

Evie Oman, founder of Canto LLC, received her BSc from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and earned her MSc from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky and is certified with ASHA. She worked in public school settings in Minnesota, and has had successful private practices in several regions of the USA as well as overseas.

Working with international families while abroad, and growing up in a linguistically diverse environment, Evie has developed a special interest in the area of bilingualism and multiculturalism. She has travelled extensively, and while living with her family abroad realized the lack of resources for English speaking families in many areas of the world.  Hence the birth of Canto Speech Therapy Online!

In the Summer of 2022, Evie passed Canto Speech Therapy onto longtime Canto therapist, Ashley Bryda. Ashley earned her BS from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her MS from Western Kentucky University and is certified with ASHA. She has worked in public school settings and has worked for Canto since 2012. She is excited about her new role and strives to maintain the level of services Canto clients have come to know and expect!

Providing high quality services to all our clients, children and adults alike, is important to me and I ensure that Canto's speech language pathologists are highly qualified, certified, experienced, and also committed to learning about new research and therapy techniques.  I'm careful to choose therapists who are passionate about their work and caring individuals.  I routinely get wonderful reviews about their energy and dedication!

Though we have been providing “table-top” traditional speech therapy for over 20 years, we are in our twelfth year reaching families online all over the world.  We've helped children and their families on all continents.

But still the most important component is our focus on the child and his or her individual needs, which is geared toward his/her progress and ultimate success. And we try to make sure that some fun is often in the mix!

In addition to managing Canto Speech Therapy, I personally continue to provide speech therapy services, locally on the ground and online. And I am happy to say that after more than twenty years in the profession I still truly enjoy what I do.  On a more personal note, I've so enjoyed getting to know the the many amazing families who have given us the opportunity to be a part of their lives and their children’s care.  And, for our international families, we’ve also been lucky enough to coordinate meeting some of them who have been helped by Canto in person!

We’re here to help because we care.
