Here’s what families are saying about us

Canto has a special way with drawing the kids into their lessons! I was skeptical at first but was desperate to find an experienced professional for my child while living overseas. After our first meeting, I knew we would be ok! Online therapy took away the stress of being in an “office” as well as the stress of rushing to an appointment. My child began to look forward to his sessions and progressed in a much more positive way than we could have ever imagined. I would recommend Canto Speech to anyone in need of services. It was a very positive experience for the entire family.

We approached Canto while in the Middle East, where we had very limited options for English-speaking speech therapy sessions. Ashley became right away our autistic Son's therapist, in weekly sessions that addressed jointly semantic pragmatic disorder, language processing disorder, and speech delay.

Ashley's sessions, albeit online only, were always very well structured and interactive. Her command of the use of the technology enabled our Son to interact with her very well. Ashley always included us in the dicussions at the end of the sessions, so we could follow up between lessons. She also coordinated her work with our Son's school teachers and shadow teacher.

Ashley has been a great support over the years we worked with her, always prepared, kind and very good at what she does. We were very fortunate to find her. She really helped our son get along with school and in his own development. She also helped us with instruments to support him.

Our son has been receiving services with Canto Speech Therapy Services for over three years. We saw tremendous progress in his speech and the staff at Canto did a fantastic job catering to our son's learning style. They kept him engaged and interested in therapy through the methods they used. We could not have been happier with the services and have recommended them to others. Our speech therapist was professional, personable and you could tell she truly cared about the progress and success of our son

We attribute [our son]'s progress to the wonderful support network he has. Canto Speech Therapy is a big contributor to this network. We had [Adrian]'s therapist working on goals to support his work at school. That made a huge difference over the past few months. Kudos to [Adrian]'s SLP for putting together a well structured program that incorporated these goals.  We are very happy with the services Canto has offered our child!

… we hired Canto to help our 18 year-old daughter overcome a speech impediment. Canto has lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Speech therapy online is a great way for young people to get access to help in a format that suits them - it's personal, effective and extremely convenient.

MN Bucharest, Romania

We are a family living as expats and moving around the world every 2-3 years. Our son has a language disorder and ADHD and we had great troubles finding professional educated SLPs that meet our son's needs. In 4 years, we went through none less than 4 SLPs in three different countries and continents and still were unhappy with the therapy. We invested a lot of time, commuting, effort and money, and were still not satisfied with the our son's speech and language development. Four years ago, we found Canto Speech Therapy.

Our son has come such a long way the last few years thanks to Canto Speech Therapy. During his recent full educational assessment last spring, the professionals stated that [Nathan]'s language had been going through "tremendous growth" since the last evaluation two years prior, and I couldn't agree more.

ER & AR, Taiwan

Having lived overseas many years, finding English speech therapy has always been very difficult to find for our daughter who has profound speech delays due to her diagnosis, Cri-du-Chat Syndrome. Hearing about Canto Speech Therapy was an answer to prayers. We were a little skeptical at first having therapy over Skype, but our therapist has kept our daughter engaged during the entire session. In fact, our daughter LOVES her and is excited when she has class. We've only used the online speech therapy for nine months, but have seen major progress in our daughter.  Our family [lives] in Taiwan and [we] travel often. I love that I don't have to cancel appointments, but just "take our therapist with us". All we need is the iPad/laptop, wireless and Skype - we are not confined to a specific building or classroom. We are just so thankful to have found this great organization. One who truly cares about how our daughter is progressing not just in language, but also how she is relating to her therapist.

Our son always looked forward to Evie's [sessions], often waiting for her. She worked with him patiently but persistently to develop his [language] skills and to build his confidence and fluency.

MN, Marietta, Georgia

Bo's speech progress with Evie markedly improved. Her speech therapy techniques work. Bo was using about five words when Evie met him and within one year, Bo was speaking in full complete sentences and no longer needed therapy at all!

...I just would like to let you know that I wish all speech pathologists were as honest and caring as you are. Thank you again.

Our 9 year old son has received speech therapy since he was 2 years old. In that time we have lived in 3 different countries and had therapists both in-person and online. For the past 4 years we were in Bucharest, Romania where in-person English therapy was not available. After having previous experience with larger online therapy companies, we decided to try Canto hoping for a more personal experience. Canto therapists are professional, engaging, and effective. But equally important, they are personable and extremely caring which I find crucial to the online format. Weekly sessions were clearly created with both the articulation targets for my son and for his personal interests. The therapists were always ready to teach me too so that I could better help my son between sessions. I cannot speak highly enough about Canto therapists. They are the gold standard!

We had a great experience working with Canto. The process was seamless from start to finish. Everyone we worked with was professional. The therapist took time to understand my student’s interests, strengths and, weaknesses. We saw great results!

EN, ROWEL, Georgia

[Our son] is doing great. [Our son] is in 3rd grade and is an excellent student. We had [his school] conference today and when [my husband] and I left the school we were thanking our lucky stars that he's doing so well. You'd be very pleased with his speech!! I can remember being so worried and you were so patient with [him]. Oh - thank goodness we found you and had early intervention!

Meet some of our past students….

David - Language Processing Disorder

David's difficulties with language processing became more evident in the fourth grade. HIs academic and social performance began to suffer.

Canto Speech Therapy provided language therapy to address difficulty with word associations, word retrieval, retaining information, identifying salient information, and organizing his thoughts when retelling and writing stories. David didn't have an internal mechanism or strategy for remembering facts, nor did he have a clear method for categorizing information.

David improved his skills in several areas over the two years that he received language therapy. He learned to systematically process and sift through information; he learned techniques that improved his memory, word association and word retrieval skills; he learned schemes to mentally organize information presented aurally and in the written form; and he demonstrated considerable improvement in being able to prioritize information when recounting facts and narratives. His academic material was incorporated into the therapy objectives, so he would be able to generalize these skills.

David was weaned from therapy by the time he entered the sixth grade. He did well! A year later his mother sent an update saying the she was so thrilled because David was able to clearly explain how he organized his thoughts for an exam that he aced!

Taylor - Phonological Disorder

Taylor, currently a third grader, speaks clearly and well! But when Taylor was three and a half years old, very few people were able to understand him, including his mother. She was anxious about his ability to talk, both in the short and long term.; she worried about the social ramificaitons: other children not understanding him and making fun of him. She hoped that he would be ready to start kindergarten when the time came.

Taylor had a phonological disorder, that there was a pattern to his speech errors. But he had several - deleting final consonants, fronting speech sounds and stopping phonemes. Taylor's phonological disorder made his speech extremely difficult to understand. "Daddy tae hoe i da ta." "I wa tu tootie wi dew, pee." ("Daddy came home in the car." "I want some cookies with juice, please.")

Over the next year and a half, Canto Speech Therapy addressed Taylor's phonological disorders. Upon entering kindergarten people were understanding just about everything he was saying. Speech therapy, with its focus not only on producing speech sounds correctly but being able to hear and discriminate speech sounds, gave Taylor the opportunity to fine tune his pre-literacy skills, especially his phonological awareness skills. He was ready to learn to read! Mom says that now, in the third grade, he's doing very well in school, he speaks beautifully and he expresses himself well.

Annie - Articulation Disorder

Mr. W knew that something was not quite right with his 17 year old daughter's speech. He couldn't identify exactly what it was, but he knew that her pronunciation could be more accurate and clearer.

Annie received speech therapy as a young child and at 17 Mr. W sought professional advice once again. Annie's misarticulation of the "s" and "z" speech sounds affected her speech inteligibility, which was what her father was noticing. In addition, she had a tendency to subtly thrust her lower jaw forward when using these speech sounds.

Canto Speech Therap provided Annie with therapy. She corrected the prodction of her target speech sounds; she also corrected the position of her jaw and tongue to a more natural position when speaking, as well as at rest (not speaking) and swallowing.

Annie is glad that her father noticed her mis-articulations a few years ago. Having achieved correct pronunciation of the target "s" and "z" phonemes in conversational speech, and now using correct lingual position at rest, when spekaing and when sawllowing, she very pleased with her speech!
